The Sydney Film Festival is debuting two hotly anticipated foodie docos this year.
If you loved Kings of Pastry and Tetsuya’s Pursuit of Excellence, then you’ll love Jiro Dreams of Sushi and El Bulli: Cooking in Progress which hits screens in mid June. To celebrate, we are giving you the chance to win two double pass to see the film of your choice!
Jiro Dreams of Sushi

Bourdain fans will recall the episode where Anthony spends several blissful hours at Sukiyabashi Jiro, calling it “the best sushi of his life”. The three Michelin star restaurant lies in the basement of an office tower and offers just ten stools. At the centre stands Jiro Ono, an octogenarian sushi master who’s skilled hands shape and create the best sushi money can buy.
Jiro Dreams of Sushi takes us behind the scenes, exploring the master and his craft and how his two sons will carry on his legacy. It’s also a delicious film to watch, thanks to director and cinematographer, David Gelb.

El Bulli: Cooking in Progress

Ferran Adrià has been described as the world’s greatest chef – ‘the Salvador Dali of the kitchen’ according to Gourmet magazine – and his restaurant, El Bulli, has regularly been voted best in the world.
Gereon Wetzel’s observational documentary explores the processes Adrià and his team go through to create the menu for El Bulli. Every element is weighed, every process timed and the results meticulously catalogued. When the menu is approved, everyone is rigorously trained to deliver 35 courses in three hours.
