If you’re wondering why the city’s restaurants are suddenly empty this weekend, it could be because the crowds have flocked to Taste of Sydney, which is in town until Sunday.

The winning dish for me was the cured ocean trout from Berowra Waters Inn. The fish was perfectly cooked and just the right amount of fattiness. I also love how great fish ‘flakes’ off with a little push. Complementing the fish was a crispy oxtail croustillant and onion soup puree.

I even got a snap of Dietmar Sawyere preparing this dish!

Other highlights included a slow cooked lamb shoulder with smoked mash from L’etoile, prawn skewers from Flying Fish and a roasted Hiramasa kingfish with heirloom tomatoes from Dank Street Depot.

And of course, the macarons from Croquembouche and the lovely Gena from Sweetness!

For those of you who are heading out to Taste of Sydney this weekend, remember to stop, breathe and enjoy!
