Iron Chef may be one of the cheesiest cooking shows on television, but its dramatic commentary, unusual ingredients and over-the-top costumes is also at the heart of what makes it satisfyingly awesome.
I couldn’t contain my excitement when I found out that two of the legendary chefs were going to be in town this weekend. After all, it’s not every day you get to meet your culinary TV hero.

Iron Chef French, Hiroyuki Sakai and Iron Chef Chinese, Kenichi Chen will be hosting and cooking two Iron Chef dinners at the Hilton Sydney this weekend. Joined by local chefs Harunobu Inukai (Blancharu), Gary Johnson (Hilton Sydney), Hideki Okazaki (Rise) and Saeko Nemoto (TEN), the Iron Chefs will offer a 6 course degustation dinner with matching wines.
Diners will be able to watch the chefs prepare each course via video streamlining from the kitchen – it’ll be just like the TV show (sans the ever colourful Chairman Kaga).

Sadly, the dinners are both sold out, so for now, we’ll have to live vicariously through the old reruns of Iron Chef on SBS.
