What do you do when you’ve had too many cupcakes?
You move on to other pastries!
Mr. Taste and I were delighted to hear that Sweetness the Patisserie had opened up in our neck of the woods. Our market goer friends have long raved about Gena Karpf’s delectable pastries and sweets.
But not only has she picked up a cultish following for her mallow squares, toffees and shortbread, Gena has also won silver and gold medals at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show.

Sweetness' Cakes of the Day
The storefront is as cute as the name suggests. Shelves are lined with fresh nougat, slices, cakes and marshmallows. A sample of the day’s pastries are plated at the window front, surely to entice any curious passers by.

Cute as a button!

Little bags of marshmallows to go!

Marshmallow Squares
On our particular visit, we decide to go with the chocolate shortbread (thanks to Steph @ Raspberri Cupcakes) and the upside down blueberry cake.
The chocolate shortbread is wonderfully chocolaty but not overly buttery or sweet.

Chocolate Shortbread Biscuit
The cake is an interesting concept but it is not quite as moist as I expected. I would have liked a few more juicy blueberries in the mix.

Omg. The chocolate shortbread looks amazing! Yummm…
Cute little place, we need more of these places!
Everytime I see a Sweetness post I can’t help but think of the marshmallows. They’re so much better than the commercial tastes-like-nothing-except-sugar variety. And it’s so great to see all the other things Gena makes too!
We are huge fans of the home-made sweets at ‘Sweetness Patisserie.’
Particularly, the marshmallows; florentines and mini-short bread biscuits.
Yummy and all hand-made.
We hope to visit Gena at your new store in Epping, sometime during the year.
Till then, if you have a sweet tooth like us … then satisfy your craving at this boutique patisserie.
I was thoroughly disappointed with the cheese cakes I ordered for a special birthday.
I ordered the caramel pecan cheesecake and the chocolate cheesecake and both crumbled upon cutting. Both were too rich and were nothing special especially with the carmel pecan cheesecake winning awards. The two cakes cost me $100 which included inscription on one of them. I just couldnt believe that Gena used chocolate inscription on the chocolate cheesecake! You couldnt make out what it said because it was chocolate on chocolate.
I am thoroughly disappointed and will not order cakes from Sweetness due to two out of two cakes not up to scratch.
I love this place, but it is so darn expensive!!
